Community Dinners
One of our most popular missions at First Reformed, is our Community Dinners. Every Wednesday evening from October to May, volunteers from our congregation plan, prepare and serve pasta dinners (with homemade sauce), salad, Italian bread and homemade desserts to the community at no charge to them. Our guests not only are our neighbors, but there are some who travel quite a distance for a warm meal and conversation with others. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 518-283-4420.
BBQ Dinners
Harvest Craft and Food Festival
Each fall, our Fellowship Hall is filled with beautiful handmade crafts, luscious home-canned goods, delectable Royal Icing Cookies, tasty treats, activities for children, made fresh then frozen dinners, homemade soups, and much more, not to mention lively chatter and laughter.
Picnic
Once a year we hold a church picnic so we can gather to enjoy each other's company and trade recipes. We also occasionally hold a make-your-own-sundae celebration following worship.
Community Fundraisers
Those who love to cook and gab hold other fundraising dinners throughout the year, including our famous Roast Pork Dinner held on the first Saturday night in November each year. In addition, homemade strawberry-rhubarb and apples pies are made by our awesome baking group and sold each summer and fall. Proceeds from these fundraisers are used to support various infrastructure improvements and other unbudgeted expenses.
Ecumenical Opportunities
We love to gather with other local congregations for worship, study, and fellowship. Our Women's Lenten breakfast and program, for which invitations are sent to other local congregations, is held the week before Holy Week. Our Bible studies are open to all
members of the community. Other churches have participated in our Harvest Craft and Food Festival (and kept their own proceeds!). We also participate in worship and programs that are hosted by other churches in the community.
